When you put \u2018Part 1\u2019 in the title of a blog post it implies there will be a \u2018Part 2\u2019, possibly even a \u2018Part 3\u2019. So to stick with that reasonable rule, here\u2019s \u2018Part 2\u2019 of my Q&A\u2019s with local bands that will be performing<\/a> at Beaverstock. In \u2018Part 1\u2019 we chatted with Chris Beland as well as The Mother Corn Shuckers, you can read that one here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In this one we here from the locally famous (and infamous) One Time Spaceman<\/a> and The Turkey Buzzards<\/a>. If you want to read about my thoughts from last year\u2019s Beaverstock, click here<\/a>. Other than that\u2026let\u2019s get right into the Q&A\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Q&A with One Time Spaceman<\/p>\n

Matt: How long have you been together as a band?<\/strong>
\nMark: 5 years<\/p>\n

Matt: How would you describe your band and the style of music you play?<\/strong>
\nMark: One Time Spaceman is an improvisitory Americana band with roots in Country, Rock, Funk & Jazz and the African music that influenced it.\u00a0 Basically, we don’t try to control and focus ourselves but instead play all of the different types of American music at the same time.<\/p>\n

Matt: So you’ll be playing Beaverstock at Castoro Cellars this year, is this your first time?<\/strong>
\nMark: Yes we will and yes it is.<\/p>\n

Matt: What are your thoughts on Beaverstock?<\/strong>
\nMark: It’s a couple of miles from two of our members houses, which rules.\u00a0 I (Mark) have been both times and loved it. Great vibes, local food and drank. So, ya know, amazing on site catering. Super friendly staff and attendees. My little kid loves it. My friends’ teenagers loved it. Beaverstock feels a little bit like KCBX’s Live Oak Music Festival. We are looking forward to playing for the first time, and debuting our Avante\/Industrial\/OutlawEmoCore\/Gloomgrass version of “Bobby Fox, now Bobby”.<\/p>\n

Q&A with The Turkey Buzzards<\/p>\n

Matt: How long have you been together as a band?<\/strong>
\nDylan: We started playing together about two years ago.\u00a0 I guess it really started when we had a few cold ones at Eric’s place in Templeton and learned a few Willie and Waylon tunes. We started working on some of our own material shortly after that and got a few shows down at The Libertine Pub in Morro Bay.<\/p>\n

Matt: How would you describe the style of music you play?<\/strong>
\nDylan: Well, like I mentioned before it started with Willie and Waylon. From there Eric got me into Ernest Tubb and I was really into guys like Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, and John Prine. But, we both started out playing in more rock\/metal oriented bands. So maybe a little of that creeps in there as well.<\/p>\n

Matt: So you’ll be playing Beaverstock at Castoro Cellars this year, is this your first time?<\/strong>
\nDylan: Yes. We were really \u00a0glad to be asked to be a part of the event.<\/p>\n

Matt: What are your thoughts on Beaverstock?<\/strong>
\nDylan: We haven’t been able to make it to a Beaverstock yet, but we have friends that have both attended and played there and everyone has had great things to say. We’ve been on the grounds to throw discs quite a few times and it’s a beautiful spot. Being able to see all the great bands on the line up this year is exciting. Luke and everyone else involved with the booking found some really cool acts and getting to see them in such a good looking outdoor location makes it that much better. Looking forward to beer and wine as well!<\/p>\n
