It should just pass on by like so many other topics. But no, it hangs on to my brain like something that hangs on to something else really tight. Come up with your own analogy.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I recently saw this article titled, \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/punchdrink.com\/articles\/where-are-all-the-rebel-female-winemakers\/\" target=\"_blank\">Where Are All the \u201cRebel\u201d Women Winemakers<\/a>\u201d. The title alone made me sigh. I read part of it, not all of it, because again, I\u2019m tired of the topic. I wrote this blog post titled, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.threeadventure.com\/hootnannie\/2014\/06\/09\/paso-robles-female-winemakers\/\" target=\"_blank\">Paso Robles: Female Winemakers<\/a>\u201d, back in June of 2014. If you go to the last two paragraphs of that blog post you will read my thoughts on \u201cfemale\u201d winemakers. I will drop more thoughts now.<\/p>\n<p>Generally speaking I am tired of labels: Christian, Catholic, atheist, Republican, Democrat, female, male, fat, skinny, beautiful, ugly, and so on. I get it, as humans we do that in order to give ourselves information. However, I feel we have this insatiable need to label so many things so we know what box people live in which then dictates whether or not they are \u201cgood\u201d or \u201cbad\u201d in our biased brains.<\/p>\n<p>Oh no, that person is Muslim, don\u2019t be friends with them. Watch out, that person is a Democrat or Republican, therefore they are stupid. Whoa, that is a \u201cfemale\u201d winemaker\u2026cute but probably not as good as a male? Or do we label them female because we are actually okay with them and are sincerely inviting them into the good ol\u2019 boys club?<\/p>\n<p>We don\u2019t call someone a Mormon winemaker or a Republican winemaker. How about steam punk winemaker? Or \u201chasn\u2019t had sex <span data-term=\"goog_1073233888\">in 3 years<\/span>\u201d winemaker? Bearded winemaker? Gay? Shaved head? Chevrolet owning?<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the day, we live in such a childish society\u2026in my opinion. Stop labeling shit. Do you like the wine? Is the person cool? Great! I have many friends that are quite different than me. I have no issues with \u201cdifferent\u201d but I do have an issue with being a jerk. Oh I know\u2026how about jerk winemaker? Or would we still have to say jerk female winemaker?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I don\u2019t know why this topic pisses me off.
