The last time we tasted at Le Cuvier Winery<\/a> it was in their old location and roughly seven or eight years ago. Their new location is on Adelaida Road near Villicana Winery<\/a> and Bodega de Edgar<\/a>. As we drove up (and up) the curvy driveway to the top of the earth you, for obvious reason, notice the amazing views. Gorgeous views of Paso Robles looking to the East and North.<\/p>\n

The next thing you\u2019ll notice is how tucked away and quiet it is. As I told Annie while we were there, I could easily picture sitting out in the wine barrel adirondack chairs with a glass of wine under the oaks taking in the views. The tasting room itself was quite nice. You\u2019ll see in the slideshow below that there were a couple of tasting bars, a little kitchen where the chef was putting together the food pairings for each wine (with a big window so we could watch), and a large open space in the middle of the room.<\/p>\n

Miranda poured for us and was very knowledgeable about the wines and the history of Le Cuvier. It was cool chatting with her and Chef John Menges when he brought the pairings out for each wine. Now let\u2019s get down to business.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s what we tasted along with the food pairing:<\/p>\n

2012 Chardonnay ($52.50) paired with Potato Leek Vichyssoise<\/p>\n

NV Pinot Noir \u20182015\u2019 Bottling ($48.75) paired with Fennel Salad in a Charred Endive Leaf<\/p>\n

2012 L\u2019enfant du Pape ($52.50) paired with Goat Cheese & Sundried Tomato Profiteroles<\/p>\n

2012 Cabernet Sauvignon ($62.50) paired with Seascape Cheddar<\/p>\n

2012 Malbec ($57.50) paired with Braised Pork Belly with Pomegranate Reduction<\/p>\n

NV Pentimento \u20182015\u2019 Bottling (website says $52.50)<\/p>\n

We enjoyed the lineup of wines. To start off, the Chardonnay was unique and full bodied. Miranda said it could lay down for some time due to the style in which it was made, with lots of time on the skins. As a Pinot Noir whore, I really enjoyed this one as it had a great nose and the palate didn\u2019t disappoint either. Annie\u2019s favorite was the L\u2019enfant du Pape, which I enjoyed as well. The Cab Sauv was very smooth with great fruit and didn\u2019t punch you in the mouth like some Cabs can. The Malbec and the Pentimento were nice as well.<\/p>\n

There you have it. We\u2019ve been trying to get to places we either have never been or have not been to in a long time. There simply isn\u2019t enough time to get to all of them. Glad we got back here though. It was well worth it.<\/p>\n\n\n
