Vines on the Marycrest<\/a> is one of those Paso wineries what we have been to several times but we certainly don\u2019t get there enough. Victor and Jenni are great people with a unique story and of course, delicious wines.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a bit of their history from their website:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe long road home…<\/p>\n

In the early ’90s, Victor was enjoying a successful career as a sound engineer in Los Angeles. But he was so intrigued by an article from Wine Spectator Magazine that it changed his life forever. He was bitten by the bug and began devouring everything he could read about the winemaking process. While dirt biking in the hills above Culver City, Victor came across the perfect spot to experiment with this newfound knowledge – that small patch of land in a remote corner of Marycrest Manor. Victor eventually lost the battle with the nuns who ran the home, but not before the passion for winemaking had taken a firm hold.<\/p>\n

Victor met his wife, Jenni, in 2002 and by 2004, with a toddler and another on the way, purchased the land that would become Vines on the Marycrest. Out went the original almond trees and in came the vines, loving planted and tended by Victor himself. With Jenni running the winery and managing the children through the week, Victor continued the weekly commute to his job in LA (a 600 mile round trip!) for 9 years before making Vines on the Marycrest his full-time passion in 2013.<\/p>\n

2016 \u201cHappy Together\u201d (51% Tempranillo 36% Petite Sirah 13% Primitivo) $42.00<\/p>\n

2016 Zinfandel $40.00<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s what we tasted not on the list:<\/p>\n

2014 \u201cBeyond Belief\u201d Brut Rose Sparkling Wine<\/p>\n

2015 Petite Sirah<\/p>\n

2015 \u201cMy Generation\u201d (55% Zinfandel 17% Syrah 15% Mourvedre 13% Petite Sirah)<\/p>\n

We really enjoyed our tasting with them both and it was nice to catch up. They are always very kind, appreciative, and interested in the conversation. So, the wines were very nice. We really liked the Viognier, Mourvedre, Round Midnight, and Malbec.<\/p>\n

This is, without a doubt, one of those don\u2019t miss spots between the people, the wines, the playful tasting room, and views from the back patio\u2026you can\u2019t go wrong.<\/p>\n
