Well, here we are again. This is my 4th Q&A with a small, local business in regards to the COVID-19 concerns. This time we have Amy Butler from Ranchero Cellars.<\/a><\/div>\n

So, my thoughts before we get into it. There’s not a vaccine yet for COVID-19. There is a vaccine for the problems these small, local businesses are having. It’s you and I. Those of us that have not been hurt financially by the shutdown need to get out there and spend our money at these small businesses. <\/div>\n

Matt: We are living in some crazy times with this coronavirus\/ COVID-19 thing. How are you hanging in there personally? <\/strong><\/p>\n

Amy: At first I was really depressed because it felt like I couldn\u2019t do anything to help my business as I watched it go down the drain. I have had some good virtual happy hours and dinners with friends that have helped to lift my spirits. We\u2019ve even brainstormed some ways to promote our online businesses during these times. <\/span><\/p>\n

Matt: How have your businesses been hit by these recent issues?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Amy: Closing the tasting room was a serious blow.<\/span><\/p>\n

Matt: What are you doing to try and mitigate the impact?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Amy: I\u2019m trying to drive online sales, and also I\u2019m taking advantage of this slow time to switch my business over to new POS\/ wine club software, so at least I\u2019m doing something productive. It keeps me from feeling completely helpless.<\/p>\n

Matt: Are you providing any deals, specials, or other services during this time?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Amy: I shot out a case special to my regulars and mailing list, a deep discount on some wine that\u2019s getting a little long in the tooth, and had great response. The case special is still up on my website, and orders keep trickling in…<\/p>\n

Matt: Do you have a message to your regular customers or to customers in general?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Amy: I want to thank everyone who has said they wouldn\u2019t think of sheltering in place without my wines. I\u2019m seeing a lot of posts on social media from fans, and that really helps to keep me optimistic. So, just a lot of big thanks to everybody.<\/p>\n

Matt: Any advice to other small business owners?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Amy: Oh gosh. I\u2019m just trying to stay afloat, mentally and financially! I wouldn\u2019t presume to offer any advice to anyone else. I just hope they\u2019re finding creative ways to cope<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
