The Beginning<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

From my perspective, there is absolutely nothing you can do to prepare yourself for the journey from the pee stick to the first ultrasound where you can see a foot that is a centimeter long all the way to where we are now with Sammy boy, which is 5 weeks and 4 days old. We can get into all the science behind having a baby because it is rather amazing, but for some reason \u201cmiracle\u201d still seems to be the best word to describe this indescribable emotional adventure.<\/p>\n

We have been extremely lucky with our boy\u2026he\u2019s a good baby that has had minor, if any, issues. The other side of that is I know Sammy is lucky too because he has a mom that is head over heels in love with him and I feel that exact same way. Annie and I have tried to step back as often as possible through the journey, from the first time she came to me and said she was pregnant to now, in order to really marinate in the current state of things. We strive to be in this moment rather than saying \u201cI can\u2019t wait for\u201d some particular moment down the road. Down the road will always come, but we can never get yesterday back. Enjoy the moments. The proof for me is that this little pee stick experiment is now an almost 6 week old human.<\/p>\n

I feel like I\u2019ve learned two pretty cool lessons since Sammy was born\u20261) take the time (meaning: don\u2019t rush out of bed at 5 am, don\u2019t walk by your boy without acknowledging him in some way, don\u2019t put the daily crap above him) and 2) Sammy is pure and loves us unconditionally, don\u2019t f&%$ that up (I know I will at some point but fight like hell everyday to love him and allow him to be him, I don\u2019t need to put my B.S. on him).<\/p>\n

Anyway\u2026here\u2019s a slideshow of pics that will take you from pee stick to almost 6 week old Sammy. Even as I gathered these pics to give to Annie so she could set them up in the slideshow, I was getting emotional. It\u2019s crazy to see this journey unfold through these pics, video, and have it all on Facebook and here on this site to go back and look through. Good times\u2026and cheers again to all of you out there that have helped to fill us with love and support, nothing better in the world than a community of people that have each other\u2019s backs.<\/p>\n\n\n
