\"Sammy\"<\/a>So here are the stats:<\/p>\n

The day Sammy was born (10-12-12): Height 19.5 inches \/ Weight 7 lbs. 11 oz.<\/p>\n

The one month check-up: Height 21.5 inches \/ Weight 9 lbs. 13 oz.<\/p>\n

Today, the two month check-up: Height 23.75 inches \/ Weight 12 lbs. 12 oz.<\/p>\n

As you can see, the boy is growing like crazy. He\u2019s in about the 75th percentile on height and weight\u2026which is a good thing I guess. Sammy also had vaccinations today which included some drops and five shots but he handled it like the storm trooper that he is. The vaccinations tend to be a controversial topic for some people so all I know to say is that I respect your opinion if you choose not to do them and we expect respect for our decision.<\/p>\n

Other than that, everything Sammy is doing seems to be completely normal based on what the pediatrician said. Annie and I always go in there with a list of questions for him and he\u2019s always super cool taking the time to answer all of them. For first time parents it is especially difficult I think, I mean, not having cared for a newborn 24 hours per day before we often find ourselves trying to fix every cry and over think every decision. It\u2019s difficult to detach from that thought process but we are currently working on that more than anything else.<\/p>\n

Sammy started doing the scream-at-the-top-of-his-lungs thing about 3 weeks ago, so about when he was 5 weeks old. I thought this was past the time that he would have gotten the \u201ccolicky\u201d thing but the pediatrician says they can get it later. The pediatrician said that colic is when the baby cries for 3 hours a day more than 3 days a week around the same time each day. Sammy is crying around the same time 3 to 4 days per week but never 3 hours. He usually calms after 30 minutes to an hour and a half. I\u2019d have to say that this has been the most stressful thing thus far because the reaction is to try and fix it\u2026but after you change the diaper, play with him, love him, feed him, and burp him\u2026there\u2019s not much more we can do and the pediatrician confirmed that. He also said it normally ends at 3 to 4 months old.<\/p>\n

Annie and I were convinced something was wrong with Sammy because he looked to be in pain when he screamed but the pediatrician said that if it was something medical it would not happen at a certain time each day and it only last a certain period of time\u2026so there you have it. Sammy has been an awesome baby and it\u2019s crazy to think he\u2019s already 2 months old.<\/p>\n

The key takeaway here is finding balance\u2026balance with taking care of baby, communicating with your spouse, and finding confidence that you are doing all the right things. It\u2019s kind of funny, the best Annie and I feel as parents is right after we leave one of these check-ups because the pediatrician has done an amazing job of guiding us and telling us that we\u2019re doing a great job. That may seem dumb but he truly has been a great source of confidence building.<\/p>\n
