\"Little<\/a>Last year at this time Annie and I had just gone through a miscarriage\u2026and then there was Sammy. Before Sammy came to be was not the best of times for us but we decided to focus on each other and those things we had control over. We stayed positive and had the discussion about whether we would try again for a baby. The answer was yes, we would only try one more time\u2026and this Christmas we have our miracle.<\/p>\n

I am someone that deals with depression from time to time but Holiday times (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year\u2019s) seem to be a bit more difficult for me. Sometimes I think I get hung up in the Hallmark and Norman Rockwell types of Holiday scenes and I want that for myself, but the reality is that doesn\u2019t exist in a physical sense in my opinion. I\u2019m still trying to understand this but I believe firmly that it\u2019s a state of mind, or a state of being, rather than who or what is going on around you.<\/p>\n

This Christmas is different\u2026I am focusing on the fact that Annie and I spent 2012 waiting for this baby to arrive. We had many very stressful moments waiting on test results regarding the baby\u2019s health but we kept powering through and on October 12th we delivered this little guy into the world. Sammy will be 11 weeks old this coming Friday but today, Christmas 2012, we celebrate our own little miracle\u2026the statement \u201cwhat a difference a year makes\u201d is most certainly accurate for us.<\/p>\n

I wish I could personally thank each and every one of you that has been supportive and sent their thoughts and love since last Christmas. It\u2019s been a long year but an amazing one. I truly appreciate all the support in regards to the pregnancy, the birth, this blog, and beyond. I\u2019m not so sure we would be where we are without all of that love\u2026it\u2019s a powerful thing. I also want to thank you for being such an amazing community and for surrounding Sammy with that. I think it is indescribable for a child to grow up with so much diversity and love; if only every child had what Sammy has.<\/p>\n

So this Christmas we are enjoying our new little family of three but we are also thinking of all of you and spending time being very thankful for all of you. I do not know anything else to do but say thank you and we hope you have a very Merry Christmas. Cheers!!<\/p>\n

A note to Sammy: One day as you read through this blog and see what your mom and I have had to write about you and you see all the comments from all these amazing people\u2026I hope you understand that you are loved more than you know. This is one crazy world but the people in your life can always make it better. There is nothing more important than the relationships you have with family and friends. Most importantly, people are ALWAYS more important than things and giving in any way you can ALWAYS outweighs receiving. We love you buddy, Merry 1st Christmas!!<\/p>\n
