I love my husband. Yeah, yeah, maybe that’s not new news to you all, but let me explain…this having a kid thing is kind of a big deal. It’s a big deal because at some point, you have to get back to living your life and being a real human instead of a “parent of an infant” or whatever you want to call it. Sound obvious? Yeah, well let me explain even more; this takes some logistical planning. Being that our 3 1\/2 month old Sammy boy requires 24\/7 care and observation, it makes it difficult to just get back to your life! Well, my husband is enabling me! <\/p>\n

He’s enabling me to go to CrossFit 3-4 times a week. He’s enabling me to get back into work and enjoy it! He’s enabling me to get a pedi, or run to the store or get my hair done. You know, the stuff that a normal chick does on a day-to-day basis. I can’t tell you how valuable him doing this for our family is to me. The fact that I get to workout on a regular basis keeps me sane! The fact that I get to go back to work full time and he’s a WAHD (work at home Dad) means that I get to go back to working hard at the career I’ve built and love. And the fact that I get to run those little errands that make me feel good about myself means that I’m more confident and at peace with myself than if I didn’t do them.<\/p>\n

I think I might be rambling on here, but the point I want to make is that having a child together takes a HUGE commitment to each other. It’s not about the mother doing all the childcare and cooking and the father bringing home the paycheck. Well, it that’s what works for you, then that’s what it’s about, but the key is finding the combination that works for you as a family. If it’s a priority for me to workout on a regular basis, then it’s awesome that my husband recognizes that and supports me in doing so. If working from home and raising his son is an honor and privilege for my husband, then it’s my job to support that for him as well.<\/p>\n

It’s all about teamwork, flexibility and respect! It’s about opening your eyes and living outside of the proverbial box. Let go of the preconceived notions and traditional roles and do what’s best for your family unit. There’s a million opinions out there along with a million people who will tell you that you’re doing it wrong, but who the hell are they??? They don’t pay your bills or walk in your shoes, so go do it YOUR way!!!<\/p>\n

We’re doing this family thing our way and loving every minute! It’s a learning experience and pushes us to expand our limitations and boundaries. Life is an experiment and adventure, so own it!<\/p>\n
