Sammy 5months<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Okay, it\u2019s not really an anniversary I suppose but it is Sammy\u2019s 5 month \u201cbirthday\u201d if you will. It\u2019s interesting when these things come up because we can look back and see how much he\u2019s changed from month one to month two to now.<\/p>\n

Some of the changes I see now are:<\/p>\n

His neck getting way stronger but you still have to kind of hold it. He\u2019ll lift his head off of my shoulder and look back and forth and all around\u2026pretty cool.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s tracking everything really well, including things that move pretty fast.<\/p>\n

He enjoys watching cartoons but only for about 30 minutes, which is fine by me.<\/p>\n

Speaking of that \u201c30 minute\u201d thing mentioned above, his naps during the day are the same length most of the time. From 6am to 8pm he\u2019s got a 30 minute mind yet he\u2019ll sleep 7 to 11 hours straight over night. I\u2019m not complaining but we\u2019re trying to sleep train him to sleep from 9 to 10:30am and from 2 to 3:30 pm. If the training thing doesn\u2019t work then we\u2019ll just let him do whatever.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve been putting things like melon, avocado, and other things on his lips or tongue to see the reaction and he doesn\u2019t seem to mind at all. Hopefully that\u2019s a good sign for future eating habits.<\/p>\n

He smiles a ton now and has even begun laughing regularly when you do certain things. He\u2019s even ticklish on his thighs and chubby baby armpits.<\/p>\n

His feet and hands are the most fun to watch\u2026maybe because he\u2019s still figuring them out.<\/p>\n

He finally found his feet. He likes to grab them with his hands, which makes it hard to change a diaper.<\/p>\n

Almost every single time he\u2019s making noises, laughing, or doing something else awesome I pull out my iPhone and try to get video of it and he stops completely. He must know I will post it on Facebook.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s making tons of noises now\u2026from oohs and ahhs to screeches and squeals, all of which are fun to listen to.<\/p>\n

So these are a few of my favorite things\u2026or something like that. It\u2019s been a very interesting 5 months. As much as things feel like they have changed drastically they\u2019ve also stayed the same. Based on that feeling I am assuming it must mean that we\u2019ve found a pretty good balance between being parents to Sammy and also having our life remain somewhat similar to what it was before. I still haven\u2019t found the words to describe the thoughts and feelings I have about Sammy\u2026nothing I\u2019ve written on this blog seems to come close to what goes on in my head.<\/p>\n

I am extremely grateful that we live in this time with all this amazing technology. I can use my phone to capture moments and share them via email or text. We have been able to put our thoughts and ideas on this blog that will serve as an amazing family album for Sammy one day\u2026as long as the internet doesn\u2019t die.<\/p>\n

Mostly I go back to what I always say\u2026I am EXTREMELY grateful for our friends and family that have been there on the journey. I know we don\u2019t see some of you as much as we used to but that\u2019s okay. In that respect our lives have changed a bit. Even though we still get out of the house often it\u2019s usually during the day with Sammy on the weekends or in the evening once or twice per week so we\u2019re not able to make all the rounds.<\/p>\n
