\"\"<\/a>You might think to yourself, \u00e2??Why in the hell have you waited so long\u00e2?\u009d? Well, partially due to circumstance and on some level I\u00e2??m sure we\u00e2??ve had our own hang ups about leaving Sammy for a night away.<\/p>\n

You see, one of my biggest issues is I hate burdening other people or asking for help. In my mind, Sammy is our responsibility and to leave him with someone else overnight isn\u00e2??t fair to them. On the flip side I know that we do need time away from him and I\u00e2??m sure he needs time away from us as well. We\u00e2??ve been doing a regular date night almost every week but two or three hours is different than 12 or 24 hours\u00e2?\u00a6know what I mean?<\/p>\n

We have a place booked and although it\u00e2??s local, very close to home (like 5 to 10 minutes away), we thought this would be a good first test for us. When I say a test for us, I mean that we will be testing whether or not we go crazy. It\u00e2??s odd though, as much as I have hesitation I really do want the break. I don\u00e2??t feel bad for him and I don\u00e2??t think I will miss him\u00e2?\u00a6after all it\u00e2??s only a night\u00e2?\u00a6it just goes back to not wanting to rely on others. I think it will be good for us to have a night where we don\u00e2??t have the monitor near us to check on him. I think it will be good, if we can manage to really do it, to decompress from the \u00e2??always on\u00e2?\u009d life of a parent. I\u00e2??m sure to some degree that\u00e2??s easier said than done but if all goes well we hope to be able to have a night or two away every few months. As I wrote about back in the day when Annie was pregnant\u00e2?\u00a6our number one goal is each other and our number two goal is Sammy.<\/p>\n

If the husband and wife can\u00e2??t stay connected through the journey of parenthood, that journey becomes somewhat messy for all involved, especially the kid. It\u00e2??s always been top of mind for us to communicate, spend as much time together as possible, and help each other through the journey. I feel like we\u00e2??ve done pretty well thus far but this will indeed be a big test for us, for our sanity, and for our psyche.<\/p>\n
