\"photo\"<\/a>Annie and I just had an interesting week in our life as parents. We were both down with the flu (like lose a bunch of weight kind of flu) and we still had to be parents. I know millions and millions of people have handled this and much worse\u00e2?\u00a6but this was our first time in such a situation with Sammy.<\/p>\n

Hell, I lost 6 pounds alone on Tuesday. Good times.<\/p>\n

Now that we\u00e2??re feeling better I can say that I didn\u00e2??t really learn anything other than we can survive. Our biggest goal other than getting better was hoping that Sammy would not catch this heinous virus. I don\u00e2??t think we\u00e2??re totally out of the woods with him but he appears to be showing no signs as of this writing. He did have numerous vaccinations and I know a couple of them had to do with flu type viruses\u00e2?\u00a6so maybe that has helped.<\/p>\n

It seems there is always something in life that shows up to show you how much easier you had it before. This week showed me that yes parenting is hard, but when you\u00e2??re sick it\u00e2??s much more difficult\u00e2?\u00a6so enjoy it when you\u00e2??re healthy. And it showed me that when things are going good, or normal, we take them for granted but when things are going bad we all bitch and complain. You know, the \u00e2??why me\u00e2?\u009d bull crap so many of us do.<\/p>\n

I know \u00e2??why you\u00e2?\u009d and I know \u00e2??why me\u00e2?\u009d\u00e2?\u00a6because none of us are immune to bad things. Sure, some of us may go through \u00e2??worse\u00e2?\u009d things than others but this too is relative. My flu this week while trying to be a parent was the worst thing I\u00e2??ve had to deal with for a while but maybe the worst thing you had to deal with was having an arm amputated. Obviously your situation is worse but it doesn\u00e2??t take away what I dealt with. I mean, I understand the gravity of both situations and am glad I had the flu versus the amputation.<\/p>\n

I guess the point I\u00e2??m trying to make is that there are different degrees of \u00e2??bad\u00e2?\u009d and it\u00e2??s good to keep those things in context. When you find out someone you know has cancer it has a way of making all the crap you go through seem petty but it\u00e2??s still your life. Maybe the most important thing to remember is to not complain so much about things because things can always be worse. Additionally, with things like Facebook and Twitter, it makes it too easy to air our dirty laundry\u00e2?\u00a6maybe do less of that.<\/p>\n

The best advice I can give to any parents out there in situations like this, power through\u00e2?\u00a6it\u00e2??s all you can do!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
