This was our third visit to Harmony Headlands <\/a>but our second with Sammy. It\u2019s one of those local trails that is great for kids because it\u2019s not overly challenging and there\u2019s plenty to keep him \u201ceyeball occupied\u201d along the way. On this hike alone we saw tons of rabbits, lizards, turkey, and two snakes. Good times.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s about a one mile walk from the parking lot off Highway 1 to the coast and from there you can head north for another mile or so. There are two different trails you can walk on once you start heading north. One path goes right along the cliff edge and provides great views down to the ocean and rock below. The path away from the cliff still provides breathtaking views and actually remains a little easier to walk.<\/p>\n

Sammy did great. He rode in his stroller for a good chunk of it which we liked better so we could keep a nice pace. There were a couple of times he got out and walked for a while and he loved it. He kept talking about how he was hiking and all that. We\u2019re looking forward to doing more trails like this with him. A great way to be outdoors, enjoy the central coast, have some quality family time, and also get some exercise in.<\/p>\n
