I am behind on a lot of writing and stories I’d like to fill you in on that have gone down over the past 10 days, but first, I wanted to fill you in on Samuel Liberty\u2019s first medical check-up.<\/p>\n

The doctor said his skin color, eyes, heartbeat, and so on were all fantastic. This included his muscle tone, he said Sammy looks great. Sammy was born weighing 7 lbs 11 oz and when we left the hospital he weighed roughly 6 lbs 15 oz, which they said was normal. The big thing was what Sammy would weigh today when we went to the doctor. Ideally they want to see him back at his birth weight by now and (drum roll please)\u2026he weighs 8lbs 1oz today\u2026so again, little dude is doing fantastic.<\/p>\n

 
\nThe next part of the appointment today will offend some of you and not offend the rest\u2026we had Sammy circumcised. It went very well and he is doing great. This was a personal choice for us\u2026the best advice we had received was do whatever the dad is and I happen to be so we thought it best that little dude be as well. Some people find this practice to be outdated and torturous, but trust me when I say that I love my son to no end so if you do not like this choice I respect your opinion\u2026I simply ask that you respect ours as well.<\/p>\n

 
\nLast thing I want to make a note of is the pediatrician we chose for our eating-pooping-peeing-sleeping bundle of joy. I will not use his name; instead I will refer to him as Doctor (for now). We first met him on the day I was waiting to get Annie and Sammy released from the hospital (October 15). I personally did not have a great experience at the hospital but will get in to that more later\u2026but when he came in he was a breath of fresh air. He actually said we were doing a good job and that our \u201cplan\u201d at home was a great plan. I fell in love instantly and knew he had to be Sammy\u2019s pediatrician\u2026luckily Annie agreed.<\/p>\n

 
\nMy point is this\u2026don\u2019t be afraid to talk to your doctors and nurses. Don\u2019t be afraid to ask questions and keep asking them until you understand. These people are human just like the rest of us and when you find good ones that you personally click with it really is amazing. I am extremely grateful that we met this Doctor and that he was still taking patients. I have the utmost confidence that my son is in great hands.<\/p>\n

 
\nCheers everyone and again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the ongoing support. As I have stated before, there is nothing that I can do that shows you how much it means to me other than saying thank you.<\/p>\n

 
\nQuick story\u2026it was either last Sunday or Monday (the 14th or 15th) I had come home from the hospital to do some computer work and I tried to go on Facebook to start responding to all the comments after the first pictures of Sammy were posted. Part way through my eyes filled up with tears and I couldn\u2019t read the screen anymore\u2026next thing I found my head in my hands and tears just falling on the carpet (do tears ruin carpet?…nevermind).<\/p>\n

 
\nHaving my son has been a life changing event in my heart. When you add in all the hundreds (possibly thousands) of text messages, voicemails, emails, Facebook comments, Twitter comments, and private messages\u2026it was a tsunami of emotion that morning for me. So again\u2026thank you to anyone and everyone that sent a message or had us in your thoughts, you are family and we love you!<\/p>\n
