It\u2019s kind of astonishing to me that anytime something goes wrong people get trigger happy with the firing of those they think are responsible. While I absolutely do think people should be fired when they are the guilty party, often times it just seems the media, the government, or whoever just start going after people (like a lynch mob) because it makes them look like they\u2019re doing something productive. Lately everybody has been going after the CEO of BP, Tony Hayward, but there has been no proof he is the culprit. However, some of his actions (and comments) have been completely idiotic.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m just wondering how much say he had at the site of the oil leak. BP has an amazingly large number of wells, is it possible he makes the decisions at each one? Most likely no, there are managers, foremen, and supervisors carrying out many or most of the day to day decisions. Another however, there could very well be commands coming from the top that urge neglectful behavior, etc.; the point is, we don\u2019t know so why are we firing people or trying to fire people?<\/p>\n
I know many people will not like what I\u2019m saying, but understand this; I think BP has absolutely been irresponsible in their actions but the key is finding out who has been irresponsible and handling the situation properly. The media creates this firestorm mentality (or mob mentality) and it just seems to get out of hand. Let\u2019s find the guilty parties, which may very well include Tony Hayward, and hold them accountable.<\/p>\n
