I raise this question because one of my businesses is a full service painting company in the state of California. We do residential and commercial painting, etc. With the big push for “green” (environmentally friendly) products, I had started offering low to no v.o.c. (volitile organic compounds) paints. I thought, especially in California, this would take off and be big business. I ran in to some interesting things.<\/p>\n
One, I have been surprised over the past couple of years that customers do not bring it up to me. Two, I have been even more surprised that when I bring up using eco-friendly products a lot of people are worried about the price (whether or not it is more expensive to use eco-friendly vs. regular). Don’t get me wrong, I understand, in this economy, we are all worried about a dollar. I just found it odd that when you watch the news they talk about how everyone is concerned and everyone is switching to green living, etc.; I have not exactly found that to be the case (in my local area).<\/p>\n
Just to pass on the information; most interior paints are now made with low v.o.c.’s anyway (this is true in California where we probably lead the nation in eco-friendly laws\/ requirements). So, if a regular gallon of interior paint was $17.32 vs. a gallon of eco-friendly paint at $28.15; which would you choose to go with?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
