As the owner of a painting business in the state of California, I\u2019ve had to deal with numerous inefficiencies on\u00a0 behalf of state, county, and city governments. One of the funnier ones (actually not funny at all) is that I need to get a business license in each and every city in which my company does any painting, and for any unincorporated areas that I might paint in I need to get a county business license.<\/p>\n
\u00a0That\u2019s all fine and good, I understand each agency wants their money etc., but for me as a small business owner to have to go to each and every city and county government office (in the areas in which we will paint) in order to fill out paperwork and write a check, IS inefficient.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Why not make it a one stop shop, where I can go to the county office and fill out one piece of paper instead of twelve and write one check instead of twelve? Let the county office distribute the funds to each city. In addition, each city is allowed to charge whatever the hell they want per license, that\u2019s pretty damn arbitrary\u2026shouldn\u2019t it be a flat fee?<\/p>\n
