I use to be very intrigued by the first part of the above quote\u2026\u201dI must create a system or be enslaved by another man\u2019s\u201d. It always struck me as choosing between being a leader or a follower, the one creating a path or the one following a path. We are ALL leaders and followers at different times in our lives (heck, even different times of our days) and in regards to different situations or issues.<\/p>\n
Leaders do not lead ALL the time just as followers do not follow ALL of the time; which goes back to previous posts in which I voice my frustration with the over analysis of \u201cwhat is a good leader\u201d\u2026because the answer is now and will always be, IT DEPENDS!<\/p>\n
Leadership, as well as following, is situational. I lead when I know something more than the person next to me, I follow when I don\u2019t; and knowing when to do what is the sign of someone that is comfortable in their own skin as well as intelligent enough to know that they don\u2019t always have the answers.<\/p>\n
I think we have lost sight of actually DOING and ACCOMPLISHING, instead we waste our time debating what a good leader is or which social media tool is better, and so on. Let\u2019s slow down a bit and hop off that \u201cover-analyze to look intelligent\u201d train\u2026it\u2019s a train to nowhere.<\/p>\n
Looking at this quote now, I feel it means to create your life to your design specifications. Creating is innate in us, it is what we have done forever\u2026but I feel it may also speak to a state of mind, having that contentment of living your life rather than someone else\u2019s. Or I may be way off base, that happens sometimes. Either way, to create is better than over analyzing creation\u2026or leadership, or anything else you have up your sleeve.<\/p>\n
