Why don\u2019t people care anymore? I just got off the phone with an 81 year old woman that we had done some work for; I called her because she doesn\u2019t have any family in the state, she was diagnosed with cancer last year, and her husband died last year as well. She had told me that she would be going back to the doctor in January to find out how the cancer was doing after surgery, etc.; and I wanted to know how she was doing. It turns out she\u2019s doing fine in regards to the cancer, I could sense her relief and her happiness that I had called. Between you and I, I think she knows that I truly care.<\/p>\n
I could go in to the whole story about why I think her and I hit it off, but there\u2019s no need to bore you. My point is, that with open eyes and listening ears you will come across people in your time here that are looking, searching, needing someone to care because they may be lonely, sad, or confused. The most powerful thing, without question, on this planet is the power of the human heart, the power to feel and care.<\/p>\n
I am making a commitment right now, to call Ruby more often, and even stop by if I\u2019m in her area because I know she needs it. My hope is that each of us can have a \u201cRuby\u201d in our life that we are able to spend a few moments with from time to time in order to make them feel special or important. The funniest thing is that when I called her I wasn\u2019t in the \u201cgreatest\u201d mood, but after hanging up the phone I realized that she helps me too.
