Tasting with the Winemaker at Proulx

June 7, 2010 matt Leave a Comment

After tasting Proulx (pronounced “Pru”) wines at the Paso Robles Wine Festival, we had to get out to their tasting room to see what else they had to offer.  http://www.blackburnwinecompany.com/ We got to taste through the list with owner/winemaker Kevin Riley, who, with his wife, Genoa started up Proulx and Blackburn wine company after spending a lot of time working in the wine industry.  Kevin consults on winemaking for other SLO County wineries and knows how to do it right!  If you’ve tasted Sextant, Mondo, or Pomar Junction’s wines, then chances are, you’ve tasted Kevin’s wine.  At Proulx, you’ll try a wonderful Rhone white blend, a smooth Chardonnay, and several reds; Kevin loves his Zinfandel and uses it to balance out some of the other wines.  He does a killer Petite Sirah, and just seems to produce some nice stuff.
