L'Aventure – Where Rhone Meets Bordeaux

October 6, 2010 matt 3 Comments

Not too far off the 46 West from the 101, lies L’Aventure Winery and Tasting Room.  It’s a little bit of  an adventure out a partially dirt road but if you’re into scenery, it’s worth it!  And even if you’re not, it’s still worth it!!!  Stephan Asseo, owner and Winemaker, and his family have been in the wine business since the early 80’s, starting in France.  He’s got a lot of experience, and brought his art to the US, well to Paso Robles in 1996 where he’s been making wine and pleasing palates ever since.  The wines are made in a sustainable way, and they’re done by hand for the ultimate reflection of the “terrior”.  Situated in the Templeton Gap, the grapes get the heat of the day as well as the cool breezes at night.  This results in the maximum flavor of the grape variety coming out in the wines.  From the way the vines were planted, to how they’re pruned and cared for, as well as the soils and water source, these wines are cared for from start to finish.  We think that this all shows when you show up and taste.  L’Aventure has gained what some might call a cult following, for the high-quality wines that will blow the palate away with gentle, yet pronounced aromas and flavors.

We got to interview Riley, one of the pouring artistes in the tasting room.  She told us all about the wines, the winery, and the L’Aventure culture…all right in front of the beautiful mural that renowned artist Erwin Dazelle freehanded on their tasting room wall!

Make a sandwich or put together a cheese plate and head out to the tasting room to enjoy all that this beautiful location has to offer!

Hi Bev – L’Aventure isn’t in the Far Outs, but they’re definitely worth the little drive to check out their site! Hey, we’ll gladly take on the “burden” of finding cool wineries for you to visit! Somebody has to do it!
