Estancia's Director of Vineyard Management – Interview

November 8, 2010 matt 4 Comments

Jason Melvin is the Director of Vineyard Management for Estancia Vineyards and Estates.  Don’t underestimate Jason’s duties; Estancia produces over 850,000 cases a year, so this is no small task!  Jason has been in the industry for a while, in fact, he’s been with Estancia for 11 years and his background is in Plant Pathology so to say that he knows what he’s doing would be an understatement.  Now, let’s just take a minute to say some things about Jason…we got the opportunity to spend some time with him and get to know him over the couple of days that we were around.  He’s just the kind of person that we love to learn from…Jason is understated and humorous, and the knowledge that he imparts in conversations is invaluable.  We felt pretty lucky to have been able to spend time with him and learn about how much he loves his job!   Oh, and by the way, did we mention that our interview with Jason took place on top of their Pollanc Harvester Machine?  Yeah…Annie climbed up on the there with Jason…hehehe.

How about a really big mower that would harvest, smash and spit out really bad wine?
