Il Cortile Food Adventure; Doesn't Get Better Than This!

June 15, 2012 matt 4 Comments

There’s this restaurant just down the street from our house; it’s called Il Cortile Ristorante, which means “the patio” in Italian. Now, this place doesn’t serve up just your regular old school Italian food (not that there’s anything wrong with old school Italian) they specialize in hand-crafted, gourmet, fresh Italian dishes. It’s a family-run joint; a husband and wife team made up of Santos MacDonal, the superb chef and his lovely wife, Carol who runs the front of the house.

The Il Cortile Experience

So, as you might have put together, we were at Il Cortile recently. My mom wanted to take us to dinner and that’s where we thought would be a great place. We three sat up at the bar and started in on our food adventure. First was a glass of wine off the by-the-glass list, which has an excellent selection of both local and imported wines to choose from. Once the wine was securely in place, we were off on the food selections!

As you may already know, we like to order small plates and share them. It’s way more fun, since we get to try more dishes and don’t get all crazy stuffed. Il Cortile happens to have a pretty good list of appetizers, and they also do a great job of splitting things up, which we thought was very kind of them! So, we had a bunch of different things from Burrata Crostini to Grilled Octopus to handmade Tortellini. So, instead of using my words to describe all of the food to you, what I’m going to do is just tell you that each dish we tried topped the previous dish! If you can imagine food that just keeps getting better, then you’re getting the idea.

Scroll through the slideshow, and be careful not to drool too much in your keyboard…then get yourself in to Il Cortile and give some of this fabulous food a try! Oh yeah, and Tell Carol and Santos that we said “Hello”!

That was a wonderful evening and I’m trying NOT to drool on my keyboard!  Just looking at those pics and knowing how incredible the food was – and the exquisite service! – puts me in mind to go there again.  Soon!  What do you think??
