Our Three Favorite Wines from October

November 20, 2013 matt 5 Comments

I know I’m a bit behind on this one as we are over halfway through November and we are just now posting the blog post on our favorite wines from October…but better late than never I suppose. October was a busy month with Sammy’s first birthday which meant more interesting wines because friends brought cool stuff over for the birthday party…for the adults of course. Sammy was more interested in the wrapping paper and the occasional cardboard box than the wine, heck, he didn’t even care much about the slab of cake we set down in front of him.

All that said…here we go.

Annie’s three favorite wines in no particular order:

2011 Rendarrio Vineyards Chardonnay

2008 Hug Cellars Arroyo Seco Pinot Noir

2009 Pear Valley Inspiration (59% Syrah, 32% Grenache, 9% Mourvedre)

Matt’s three favorite wines in no particular order:

2011 Wild Coyote Tannat (Haven’t had very many Tannat’s, very interesting grape)

1999 Castoro Cellars Reserve Sangiovese (14 years old, tasted great in my opinion)

2010 Per Cazo Zing (62% Grenache, 38% Zinfandel) (Had not had this one before and think it was the right wine on the right day, it just worked)

So there you have it. As I’ve said before the wines we pick may be because they were unique, different, or just tasted awesome in the moment. There really is no rhyme or reason behind what we like other than…right this second, this tastes freakin’ good.

So what have you been enjoying recently?

Always like hearing what you’ve got on your favorite list! The Ruche (obscure–at least in the US–Italian grape) we had last night is on my short list for November, though also enjoyed a great Bordeaux tasting.
