The Girl and the Fig at Hopsice du Rhone!

June 6, 2011 matt 12 Comments

While at the Hospice du Rhone Grand Tasting, we caught up with Sondra Bernstein, the Proprietor and CEO of The Girl and the Fig.  What’s The Girl and the Fig?  Well, it’s a restaurant, of course! Situated in Sonoma, they just happen to feature an incredible list of Rhone wines and are focused on sharing the message that Rhone wines go wonderfully with food and are just damn good in general!

Sondra will tell us all about how she got to be so involved with the HdR event, but in the meantime we’ll tell you a little bit more about her.  Sondra doesn’t have just the one restaurant, she’s also got ESTATE Restaurant and the fig cafe and winebar in Glen Ellen.  She’s written a cookbook, has a whole line of fig food products, and is a very passionate and dedicated foodie and businesswoman.

Sondra believes in using local food products to create the wonderful French-inspired dishes that grace the menu each day.  The wines are from all over the place; France to Napa/Sonoma to the Paso Robles and Santa Barbara areas.

Well…why are we telling you all this?  We’ll let Sondra do the talking….

So Annie did you taste her food along with the wine? She is quite the conversationalist, lots of good information to learn, must try her restaurant whenever we get up to Sonoma. Cheers!

Hi Bev…we didn’t get to try any of her food at the tasting, but are thinking of making a special trip to Sonoma to get some! We are such suckers for good food that we usually plan our travels around food and wine! 😉

Beverly I’m looking forward to you posting a picture. Do you have one in a cheerleaders outfit?? Or maybe a nurses outfit. How much black leather and chains do you own? A whip? Can’t wait. I’m crazy for whips and wine.
