Stax? Yes, Morro Bay Style

June 16, 2011 matt 12 Comments

When we hear about a new wine bar coming in, you can bet we will make the trip as soon as we can to check it out. Stax is the new wine bar on the block in Morro Bay, conveniently located on the way to Morro Rock.
The place is pretty cool…plenty of places to sit, but what we liked was that it wasn’t the same type of seating that you see at any old wine bar. They had a sofa area with a coffee table as well as many pub tables, etc. The list of beer, wine, and food was a bit more extensive than we thought it would be, which is always nice (we really like food, too!)
So, your options are to walk in, order a glass and hang out; walk in, pick a tasting from their different tasting lists; or walk in and buy a bottle to open there or take home for later consumption.  If you pick any of the stay-in options, be sure to order some accompanying food items, they all looked awesome!  The key is to walk in!
Check the video out to hear more about Stax, and be sure to check them out if you are in Morro Bay!! Cheers!

Hey Bev! Have you been to MB? If not, you might have to put that on your list, too! Hey, what did you think of our opening to the video? Trying out some new stuff and thought it might be kind of cool…

You’re too kind, Bev! Thanks for the compliments! Your list is getting quite out of control…you might need to plan a couple of months up here! 🙂

May have to swing in on our vacation in August. I have always been intimidated by wine bars until last year when we decided to just go for it and check it out (The Tastes of the Valley Wine Bar in Solvang). I do not know why we waited so long we had a blast – great experience. I think part of the intimidation was that most wine bars we encountered were the size of our living room – I like intimate but not checking elbows and butts to have a wine tasting or purchase a bottle – not really my speed. Stax sounds like they have good space as well as great wine and eats.

Hey Renee! We love Tastes of the Valley!!! They have one in Pismo Beach, too! Great place, cool people. And yes, Stax has great space and a good vibe…no butt checking going on that I noticed! 😉

That is good. I am all for saying excuse me, but when you say it more than 5 times in a minute you know you are in tight quarters – have been in a restuarant like that – started to bother me that I was getting too close to people’s personal space. I problem have the issue and no one else cares but like to be respectful and polite in a crowd.

We’re all about being aware of people’s personal space! It’s such a strange experience when you come across people that have no concept of what’s happening around them! So funny!!!

They have really good halibut and chips at STAX. Worth a drive from Paso wine country, and good Eberle Viognier to go with it.

LOVE halibut & chips!!! But wait…you don’t drink white wine!!! Maybe they should start serving steak and chips with a little Hugs and Kisses on the side!
