Wine, BACON, and Hope…Hope Family, That is!

October 24, 2011 matt Leave a Comment

It doesn’t get much better than this: bacon and wine. Yeah, that’s right…pairing different bacon-type tasties with wine to celebrate Harvest Festival Weekend at Hope Family Wines (HFW). They’ve been doing this for the last three years, and it’s an outrageous hit. As you might expect, people come from near and far to get the little bacon bites that compliment the various wines that HFW offers in their tasting room.

Let’s just give you an idea of what we’re talking about here, shall we?  We’ve got your sweet bacon paired with the Austin Hope Rose, a spicy prosciutto with the Treana White, fresh-carved pork shank with the Austin Hope Syrah, and homemade chicharrones paired with the Candor Merlot (and MORE).  Sound dreamy? Yeah, it was!

Harvest is a special time here, in Paso Robles…the back roads are frequented by trucks transporting freshly-harvested grapes, winemakers and cellar rats are seen out and about with purple-stained hands and a dazed look in their eyes, and there’s the buzz of new wines being put in the barrel! It happens every year, and our wineries and vineyards really know how to celebrate! Even though it’s the busiest time of the year, all of the wineries take the time to throw some sort of killer celebration to ring in the latest harvest.

Hope Family Winery does it up right; they order their bacon treats from all over the place and strategically pair them with their incredible wines. It’s a grand celebration and a great way to honor our harvest season!
