If You Don't Know Foxen, You Don't Know Dick…or Bill, Part II

January 27, 2011 matt 6 Comments

We’re not sure if you could get any more opposite in tasting room experiences…in part 1 you see “the shack” we tasted in and now you’re going to see Foxen’s additional tasting room right down the road. The new place is beautifully done and very inviting. Loved the outdoor sitting areas and the tasting room itself was warm and well done…a far cry from the rustic shack…but again, that’s their history, their style, and they wouldn’t dare part with that.

They taste different wines at each tasting room, duh, so we had to go to both right? The wines are very nice, we really enjoyed their Chards and Pinots….so good. We also enjoyed trying the Cab Franc and the Sangiovese blended wines.

Not much left to say other than, if we lived in their neck of the woods it would definitely be one of our hang outs, the staff at both locations were awesome; lots of laughter!! And wine is: Family, Friends, & Laughter!!

Wow, that is a really nice place for wine tasting. I am going to watch the movie “Sideways” again to see if I can recognize the shack in the movie. lol. Plus whenever we come up, I will ask you guys to write up my itinerary from SLO, PR, to SM so much to see, drink and tour. FYI-yesterday on the Oprah show they said that San Luis Obispo is “The Happiest Place to Live” even a young family moved there from Orange County when they interviewed her she said she had to take a 40% pay cut when they started their business (didn’t say what it was) but they were happier living there. Have a great day. 🙂

Hey Bev, we’d be happy to give you some ideas on where to go when you come up! We heard about that Oprah thing, it’s been all over the news up here…turns out she’s kind of a big deal, hehehe. Check out Sideways and let us know what you find!

Our first visit to SoCal we were treated to a wine tour in Santa Barbara. Afterwards our friends showed us the movie Sideways and it turns out that the path we took on the tour was the same wineries from the movie! What a treat!

Hey Ron, how cool is that?!?! That movie has had a big impact on the wine country in that area! Brought a lot of attention (some not so great) to the area and has done a lot for them. But then again, there’s some great wine that comes out of there, so they back up the reputation! Cheers!!!
