Evans Ranch Tasting Room, In All Its Glory!

Evans Ranch Tasting Room, located in downtown Los Olivos, is pretty unique in that it has stools up at the tasting bar…which you don’t see all that often. It’s like hanging out at a bar (which is our second favorite thing to do after wine tasting).  It really is a cool tasting room, plenty of room, and the staff was fantastic.  Evans Ranch is closely linked up with Gainey Vineyards out of Santa Barbara County, which puts out some great wines, too!

Wines we tasted: 2008 Las Brisas Chardonnay (very chard, oaky but very nice), 2009 La Marina Chardonnay (delicious, creamy, toasty, heaven in a glass), 2009 Las Brisas Pinot Noir (spice, mint, fruit, delicious, light), 2008 Lone Oak Pinot Noir (clone 4, floral, herbaceous, spices, baked goods), 2008 Lone Oak Syrah (cool climate syrah- meat, cocoa), 2008 Las Brisas Syrah (cool climate syrah- grunge, earth, spice, rich).

We really did enjoy the whole Evans Ranch list, a fantastic line-up for sure!!  That doesn’t always happen; that we both enjoy the whole list.  So, basically, that’s saying a lot!

So, if we did have anything negative to say it would be the price points ranging from $36.00 to $58.00 per bottle. There is definitely a market for that price point, but it is absolutely on the high side for most people…but again, the Evans Ranch wines are great.  There is also a tasting fee that was $10-15 each (the specifics get cloudy at times).  Again, we went for it…no compromising when we’re out on a mission!
