That may not sound like an odd statement but it is when you find out that my boy is still in the warm little womb of my wife. So I realize it probably wasn’t a high five but I can dream can’t I? My wife will be 23 weeks along this coming Saturday and last night was the first time I had been able to feel him move. For the past month or so my wife kept telling me about these different sensations and movements she felt and she’d have me put my hand on her belly to feel but no…Little Browne was wore out by then and taking a nap evidently.
I know that feeling the baby on the outside of the belly has a lot to do with how big the baby is and the thickness of the uterus, etc…but getting that first feel of the baby moving is pretty awesome. In my head I had kind of given up on being able to feel it until later when Annie looks like she’s carry a watermelon around but all the parenthood stars aligned and I got to feel that first magical moment last night.
So we’re moving right along in the process, as I said earlier we will be 23 weeks along this coming Saturday and other than me feeling the Little Browne Chunk move last night things are pretty normal. I still have my moments where I think that there is no way we can be pregnant but then that means Annie’s been eating to many deep fried donuts, but reality soon sets in when I look at our freezer door which has roughly 20 ultrasound photos hanging from it. Little Browne is in there and once he’s done baking he’s coming out to meet us…for real!
It is quite the experience and I am hopelessly thankful I am on this journey with Annie…she is amazing when it comes to this type of thing and my faith in her as a mother is endless.
Do you have kids? When was the first time you felt them move? How did you feel that first time?

@HeatherBrowneDearborn It’s funny Heather, the idea of having this site came to me VERY early on…even in our first one that ended in miscarriage. I think it’s the best way to capture all of our thoughts and ideas and questions along the journey and build a community around it. The ability to share via something like this is pretty amazing and allows for family member and friends to follow along at their own pace. Pretty amazing!! Love ya sis.
I don’t recall the exact moment but I saw my daughter move in Mom’s Belly before I actually felt her. The timing was usually off like you.
I guess even after little Browne is more there will be a sensation that might seem like you are dreaming.
Glad everything is well and I really like the analogy you made. I am sure Little Brown is high fiving ( is that actually a word) his awesome dad back.

Well, as a mom, the experience is mind blowing. Wait until the baby is bigger and you can see Annie’s stomach actually rolling. Words can’t describe it. I can’t wait to read THAT post! lol

I can’t recall the exact moment, it was 20+ years ago, but I do remember that I would place the TV remote control on my belly and when it rolled around it was the signal for my husband to get over to my belly & hug the baby.
