I can’t really complain about sleep because Annie has been the primary one taking care of Sammy through the night due to the fact that she’s on maternity leave, but each time he would wake up in the night we would both wake up…even since we moved him into his own room and watch him on a monitor. So imagine the shock when Christmas night Sammy slept 8 hours!!
We knew Santa had not forgotten us!!!
It was a Christmas miracle! I woke up at 4:00 in the morning and Annie said he had been asleep for 6 straight hours to which I replied “Are you sure he is breathing?” She said yes but a few minutes later she peeled her eyes away from the baby monitor to go and personally check that he was. He then proceeded to sleep another 2 hours for the grand total of 8. Holy smokes!! What a milestone, but could it be repeated?
Well, last night he slept for 8 hours yet again. It’s a great milestone to reach, mainly for the parents but it’s great to start seeing patterns develop with him. I feel we’ve actually done pretty well with the sleep stuff…mainly by taking turns with him during the day when we can and also partaking in the ever elusive naps. On the other hand, neither one of us are big complainers or sleepers, so that could have something to do with it too.
At the end of the day, it’s just another step toward him developing and forming patterns. It’s mind boggling to watch him through these things. From the first time he smiled on purpose to him learning to look into your eyes…simply amazing! Who knows what will be next in his journey and we also know that there are still plenty of nights ahead where he will keep us up BUT this is indeed progress!
A side note: This made Annie and I a believer in Santa Claus again!! Hallelujah and all that good stuff!

LOL…there is no other way to start this! – I can relate to your feelings here! I remember the first few nights my kids slept through the night…wohooo!!!! there is no better feeling! [yet] The great thing about you [different from us] is that you are documenting everything, what a treasure to have.
How I wish I had documented all their milestones, their patterns, etc….kudos to you and Annie!
