Just another day. Same old same old. Different day same shit.
Weâ??ve all heard people say these things or something very similar when asked â??howâ??s it goingâ?. In fact, Iâ??m guilty of it and Iâ??m sure you are too. I think itâ??s unfortunate that we are so willing to throw our time away. We label this moment or this day or this week as something other than what it actually isâ?¦pretty damn magical.
Now, before you say it, I still have these feelings often but Iâ??m trying to work on it because I think itâ??s worth it. Not every day is going to be a lottery winning day of ecstasy but we can definitely make some changes in order to have less of the â??same old same oldâ? type days.
Itâ??s been important to me for some time but since Sammy has been around my view point has changed. Every little thing he sees or hears is magic to him. That little bug on the wall in the backyard is an entire universe to him. The birds flying through our yard are like some magical Pixar creature to him. When the wind blows the wind chime he gets pretty excitedâ?¦and why not, itâ??s a free concert.
As we get older and are faced with â??the daily grindâ? of working to make money to buy crap (most of which we do not need), our perspective on the bug, the birds, the wind, and the wind chime changes. We donâ??t see the magic in it anymore. Thatâ??s sad to me and I want to do whatever I can to not be the cause of why Sammy loses it. There must be a way to do the daily grind but also have an appreciation of the fact that we live on a huge blue marble that is hurtling through space and we get to do all this cool stuff.
Sometimes, if we stop all the noise and pay attention we can see that magic again. Sammyâ??s been helping me with that. Iâ??m not always in the mood for itâ?¦but Iâ??m getting better. I have that choice. And so do you.
Having kids really show us the little things in life that we take for granted as adults, if we could all have it that way when we are grown ups and have less stress in our life but God never promised us a Rose Garden, live and learn every day, and keep smiling.
