I’d have to say, this is a big pet peeve of mine. I have worked for and seen so many people that don’t seem to understand how relevant/ significant/ important customer service is. Some people may refer to customer service as: “kissing ass”, “manipulation”, and so on. But here’s the deal folks; IF YOU WANT TO OWN YOUR OWN BUSINESS WARNING: you better first learn to be passionate about people, about humans, about this journey we’re all on together. For myself, after every job, my goal is to be friends with my customers; partially because I think the term “customer” is so cold. I want to be friends…don’t you?
You may be a good business person, but if you don’t get the “human” thing, be smart enough to realize your weakness and hand that task off to someone with compassion and passion for people. It’s crucial folks, I have seen it in my own business life as well as numerous others. More importantly, I know what I want when I’m a customer, I want connection. If you give me connection, I would probably pay more. Relax, enjoy, make the human connection and let meknow how it goes!!! Now go get it!!
