Cutting Education To Create More Welfare Recipients

February 25, 2010 matt 3 Comments

This is one of the most perplexing things that happens during economic downturns here in California, and the whole United States. When leaders have to start finding ways to balance a budget (which they haven’t done in such a long time I wonder why they even continue to try) they start finding areas to cut spending; and one of those places is education. By using the term education I mean the whole experience that goes with K through 12, and that is the actual learning, sports, music, and the other extra-curricular things that the kids learn by being involved in.

So, they decide to start cutting education rather than cutting welfare? This is always my go to comaprison because welfare is a system that has gone horribly wrong and truly only helps a very small percentage get back on their feet, most people milk the system for as long as they can. By cutting education though, in my opinion you are creating more future welfare recipients. The goal should be to cut, or limit, programs like welfare and put more in to education to help nurture a future generation to be free thinkers and problem solvers.

This is just one example of the things that go on in government that I do not understand at all, and granted, I don’t have every single fact but from the outside looking in, I am stunned. Do something. Make a change. Contact your senators and representatives.
