Step Two: Staying positive
I’ll be honest; this is something that I struggled with for a long time. When I say “staying positive”, for me it means staying focused and finding good (however small it may be) in every situation. Life can be a difficult road, so if every bump in that road caused you to rant and rave there is no doubt it will push you off course; further from success.
The way that I started changing myself was by taking action, when I noticed myself speaking negatively of someone else or feeling depressed because I didn’t get that potential project; I mentally stopped in my tracks and reminded myself that the negativity was not going to bring me closer to my goals, whereas searching for the good would absolutely carry me toward my success.
I’ve also spent a lot of time thinking about and observing what happens in those situations, speaking negatively about someone else or an event; it actually made me physically feel bad too. So after seeing the full extent of negativity, I basically just kept practicing the art of being positive. The coolest thing ended up happening though, I didn’t have to pretend or act positive, by simply enacting positivity in your life (with your friends, family, customers, co-workers, etc.) you begin to do it naturally and get this…it makes you feel good.
Although I still have my moments, like most people, I absolutely think positivity breeds positivity while negativity breeds negativity. I also know it can be a struggle, but try it for 30 days, or 60 days; and tell me it doesn’t work. I’m not saying you will be financially successful from this but when I am done with this little series of blogs post, put all these steps together and it can absolutely build financial success, along with personal happiness.
So go out and make someone smile, help them carry something, give someone a business lead, or whatever…just do something and then another thing. You can change someone’s world, now wouldn’t that be amazing?
