When something happens, like a car accident, in which there are some minor injuries and cars totaled; we as humans make comments like, “oh my gosh, you could be dead”, etc.? (I use the example of a car accident because that recently happened in my family) What we should be saying is, “I’m glad that is all that happened, you are here and you’re alive”. This example goes to show what we as humans do which is focus on the worst, the negative, and the dramatic. Why have soap operas, reality television, and gossip magazines all performed so well over time? We like drama, our brains are geared toward the ‘worst thing’ all the time.
I wish we could power through that and focus on the positive and help each other do that, as a community. Every single one of us has bad times, hard times, and the thing most of us need when these moments happen is reassurance; yet we’re typically afraid to burden anyone with our problems. This is how I am anyways, and what I find each and every day is that more people are the same way. We need to spend more time reassuring each other and living the journey with our fellow travelers because when it’s all over the person you are, and the person you are remembered as, is based on your character, your attitude, and your spot in your community. When I use the word community I do not mean your city or state, I mean your network, your group of people; the ones you are engaged with.
The insecurities and issues we each have and face, are often easily remedied by a kind smile from another person, kind words from someone letting you know they care, or a hug when no words need to be spoken. Help each other people, we are all in the same boat headed toward the same fate. We ALL have that in common!
