Paso Robles Wine: Pinot Noir

I’ve been asked about Pinot Noir as a Paso Robles wine variety several times recently so I thought I’d put together a list of wineries in Paso Robles that have Pinot Noir. These Pinot’s may or may not be grown in Paso, I’m simply trying to find anyone in the area with a Pinot Noir on their list. At some point we will add a tab on the homepage of our website with lists like these.

As many of you know, Pinot Noir is not abundantly grown in Paso Robles due to the extreme high and low temperatures. Pinot Noir tends to be a fickle little…well…nevermind. I can say that because I love it almost as much as I love my wife. As much as I dig Grenache and Mourdevre, along with many other reds, Pinot Noir still knows how to get to me.

That being said, Marc and Maggie from Windward Vineyards, firmly believe that Pinot Noir can do very well growing in Paso Robles. They focus on Pinot Noir and started the event Paso Pinot & Paella Festival…that has to say something about it. Although I still prefer Pinot’s from cooler climates I am thankful they are working so hard for Paso…and Pinot for that matter.

I know I do not have all the wineries listed that have a Pinot Noir in Paso Robles. So if you know of any please leave a comment to let me know and we will add it to the above list and eventually to the list on a separate tab on the homepage.

I hope to do this with a lot of the other varieties but not with the common Paso stuff like Cabernet Sauvignon or Zin because it would be easier to list who does not have one. For now we’ll stick to the more rare or obscure.
