Paso Robles: Bistro Laurent

February 23, 2016 matt 1 Comment

We headed over to Bistro Laurent in downtown Paso Robles for the first time in roughly six years. I have no idea why we had not been there in so long but I’m certainly happy we went back. It was a great night.

Here’s the food we shared:

They brought out an amuse-bouche that was a delicious pastry with pesto and tomato.

Tart with pesto, ratatouille, goat cheese, and escargots $12.00

Roasted free range chicken with garlic, rosemary, and puree of potatoes $26.50

Here are the wines we tasted and/ or drank:

NV Taittinger, Reims, Brut

2014 Domaine La Roche Chablis

2011 Vino Al Lago Pinot Noir

2014 Stolpman Vineyards Viognier

2014 Cristia Collection Cuvee – Chateauneuf-du-Pape

Guigal Cotes du Rhone

The food was absolutely perfect. I’ve been on a big chicken kick lately and this definitely handled that. Annie wanted to throw in the tart with escargots as a fond memory from the first time I ever had escargot back in 2011 in Paris. Ian Adamo, Maitre d’ and Sommelier, took great care of us and made great wine recommendations based on what we ordered and what we described being in the mood for.

It was one of those 5-star experiences where there is literally nothing I would change. It served as a reminder to get out of our routine. We all get into that rut of going to the same restaurant/s over and over again but it’s so good to break out of that and push your taste buds. Nothing wrong with your own “Cheers”, where everyone knows your name, but change (at least in my mind) is always good.

We will definitely be back soon. Thanks again to Ian and the rest of the staff.

Bistro Laurent is one of my very favorite places to eat. It is just about the only places I will order chicken when eating out. Also the tomato tart is always ordered.
