At Tobin James Tasting Room

February 7, 2010 matt Leave a Comment

Hoot ‘n Annie headed East…to the infamous Tobin James Tasting Room.  http://tobinjames.com/ This place is known for it’s Saloon-like party atmosphere and constantly packed tasting bars.  People come from near and far for the opportunity to grab a spot at the bar and go through the free list of wines open for tasting.  The list even states “The only rule in our tasting room is – Have Fun!!”  It’s true…we’ve witnessed it on multiple occasions.  The wines are good…maybe not all of them great, but they’re also very reasonably priced.  If you’re a member of their club, The James Gang, or somehow luck out and get an opportunity to taste off the Reserve List, then you’ll get to try some of the really high end TJ wines.  Many are called “James Gang Reserve” and are shipped out to their over 10,000 club member 2 times a year.  These wines tend to be a bit more complex and refined and definitely worth a try.  As always when we taste here, we had a good time, got great service and even got to chat with Toby for a few minutes.  You gotta get out here, it’s the place to come taste and take part in the party side of Paso Robles wine tasting!
