At Home with Cupcake Cabernet

March 24, 2010 matt Leave a Comment

Yeah, Cupcake…makes you feel happy, right?  Us too….and the label is cute.   Cute in a magically delicious sort of way.  This is a Cabernet Sauvignon made by a Winery called Cupcake www.cupcakevineyard.com.  Their winery is in Monterey County, they get their grapes from the Central Coast, and their address is in Livermore, CA.  So in other words they’re making the most of all of California and they’re making wine.  It’s reasonably priced and the Cabernet Sauvignon was okay.  Neither of us was all that impressed…but we paid less than $15 for the bottle so we’ll chalk it up to another learning experience.  The taste was pretty tannic, but the aroma was nice, cherry and berry with some leather and whatnot.  Sometimes you find something that really knocks your socks off for a great price…sometimes you won’t.  Same goes in the other direction; you can throw a chunk of cash at a bottle that you think is going to be great, and it just isn’t always.  It’s wine…it’s an adventure.  Try it!
