Mixin' it up with McPhee's Grill

July 21, 2010 matt Leave a Comment

We thought we’d throw you a bit of a curve ball and post on a restaurant that we love here in the area…McPhee’s Grill in Templeton, CA.  It’s just a couple miles down the 101 from Paso Robles and they’re known for their, yeah, you guessed it, their GRILL!  They grill a filet mignon that you won’t need a knife for…and then top it with blue cheese or whatever the chef’s fancy is that evening.  They also do mouthwatering seafood (Annie LOVES their scallops) among other fun stuff like lamb, pork chops and the occasional wild game special.  Their wine list is great, featuring many local wines as well as some not-so-local, but a nice mix of great wines to choose from.  Try their “house” wine, which is made for them by Jim Clendenen at Au Bon Climat (really good stuff)!  The service has been phenomenal each time we’ve eaten at McPhees, which is a huge reason that they are so successful.  You just can’t have a great restaurant with awesome food and a cool atmosphere and then throw mediocre service into the mix…people just won’t come back! Check ’em out…
