Exploring New Territory at Mt. Vernon Winery

February 22, 2011 matt 2 Comments

Yeah, that’s right…we ventured out of our norm, and right into the Auburn Wine Trail.  Why there, you ask?  Well, Hoot’s Dad and Stepmom live just outside of Sacramento, in Lincoln, CA, and the Auburn Wine Trail is the closest fix that we could get while visiting!  Perched at the base of the Sierra Foothills, lies this remote wine trail that features some really interesting wines!  Well, not just interesting wines, but interesting people and sites, too!

We’d heard about Mt.Vernon Winery and their ventures in the philanthropic side of the wine industry.  Their “BCR” (Breast Cancer Research) Chardonnay boasts a 12.5% gift to research for curing breast cancer! Pretty cool of them.

They’ve got a beautiful tasting room and an awesome outdoor area you’ll see in the video, as well as a great selection of wines to try (16 on the list when we were in!).  You’re gonna try Rhones (MGS – Mourvedre, Grenache, Syrah), Merlot, Barbera, Petit Verdot, some creative and unique blends, and a couple of dessert wines.

Super Cool Mt. Vernon Winery Truck

By the way, the people were extremely nice…if you like that sort of thing!!
