What might the trifecta of a wine event be? Glad you asked: wine, food, and sustainability!! This is what Earth Day Food & Wine Festival is all about and it’s held right here in San Luis Obispo County, more precisely, this year it will be held at Pomar Junction Winery in Templeton. Last year it was at Santa Margarita Ranch in, you guessed it, Santa Margarita…and that was our first time attending.
This event became one of our top three wine events, a “must attend”. The Central Coast Vineyard Team is the machine behind the event, and Kris O’ Connor, Executive Director, is the machine behind the machine. She’s not only brilliant, but she’s a hoot too (we know, there’s only room for one Hoot in Paso Robles, and that’s “Hoot” n Annie), honorary title of course!!
Kris has a wonderful group of people that work with her to coordinate this event but folks, the Central Coast Vineyard Team is so much more than this one annual event. Their Mission Statement sums up where their passion is: “The Central Coast Vineyard Team will identify and promote the most environmentally safe, viticulturally and economically sustainable farming methods, while maintaining or improving quality and flavor of wine grapes. The Team will be a model for wine grape growers and will promote the public trust of stewardship for natural resources.”
At last year’s event you could see the passion IN the event…the set-up, the cleanliness, and each and every detail; truly amazing. We not only expect the same from them this year, but we know they will pull it off. We will stop here, it’s always easy to get carried away when you’ve been punched in the face (in a good way) by a person, a thing, an event, or whatever…but we strongly urge you to check out their websites (both Earth Day Food & Wine and the Central Coast Vineyard Team) and support them by signing up on an email list or even better; come to the Earth Day event and let us know so we can see you there!!!
Cheers and Happy Thursday!!
(Note the big, cool banner for Earth Day Food and Wine over there on the right…that’s our way of showing you how much we support this event!!!)
