More in the World of Pinot Noir

March 18, 2011 matt 6 Comments

We showed you some of our good times at the World of Pinot Noir last week…well, yeah, you guessed it!  There’s more!  So, to start off, this event is awesome!  Tons of Pinot Noir producers all gathered in a huge tent outside on the cliffs above the beach.  We got to wander from booth to booth tasting some GREAT Pinots and chatting with some interesting winemakers.  There were tasty little bites to munch on in between the drinking, and plenty of good people watching as the day progressed.

One of our favorite Pinots turned out to be from a place called La Fenetre out of Santa Maria, CA.  We tasted through 3 Pinots, all 2008s and each from a different vineyard out of the Santa Barbara County area.  These were tasty! Light, yet earthy and fruity all at the same time, not sure how a good winemaker can pull that off with a Pinot Noir, but he did!

We got to interview Josh Klapper, the founder of La Fenetre…check it out!

Note:  This was a great conversation with Josh, and just wanted to let you know that there were a few colorful words thrown around, which we think added to the color!  Enjoy!
