Their tag line is “Life is an Adventure, Drink Wine”, and that pretty much covers it! Mitchella Vineyard and Winery is nestled on the 46 East in Paso Robles, literally just behind Robert Hall, across from Vina Robles, and about 2 miles from town. You’ll find the quaint tasting room at the end of a winding road, ready to pour you their large list of wines. The tasting room is located at the Mitchell family home, on land that’s been in the family for generations.
Angela and Darren Mitchell believe in making small lots of handcrafted wines, and their offerings range from Sauvignon Blanc to Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, and some really great red and white blends. They’ve managed to cover the whole gamut, from Bordeaux to Rhone blends, as well as some out-of-the-box blends and styles.
One of the unique and very cool things about Mitchella, is that you just might show up when the Mitchells have their home open, and are serving up food! Whether Angela is crafting up an award winning burger, or Darren has the pizza oven fired up and slinging out fresh pies. You’ll feel welcome, and won’t be able to resist grabbing a glass and sitting on their patio to take in the view of the surrounding Cab Sauv and Syrah vineyards. Be sure to ask about going to the upstairs patio to take in the view from up there…you won’t regret it!
You might see Angela at local events, pouring their wines and telling you all about the rich Mitchella history, or you might find their wine in a select restaurant or wine shop, but you’ll most definitely find the whole experience that is Mitchella at their tasting room just outside of Paso Robles.
