So, we’ve been working on putting together some articles on Tasting Room etiquette. From the business side of the counter, to the customer’s side of the counter, we know there are things that will make and break it for all involved. You know what we’re talking about…whether you’re pouring the wine, or tasting the wine you’ve had great experiences and not-so-great experiences.
What have you seen or done that makes it or breaks it for you in a Tasting Room? From either side of the counter?
Scott says
I hate getting no information about what is being poured, when I actively show an interest. It doesn’t seem fair to the winery to have a pourer who ignores an obvious desire to go deeper into what the winery is doing.

Good point, Scott! We’d all like to think that the people pouring the wines are there because they dig the wines and want to share some knowledge about them.
Pat says
I also dislike it when they give you minimal information. They will also give extra attention to some people during the tasting and ignore you. It’s very annoying that they don’t give everyone the same amount of attention.

That’s a bummer, Pat! We’d like to think that we’re all as important as the next guy…after all, you never know when a customer is going to be the one to buy a bunch of wine or recommend your tasting room to all their friends.
