This lunch was amazingly outstanding for two reasons: 1) Roses from Tavel (check this link for more info on Tavel ) and 2) food from Chef Jose Dahan at Et Voila! Restaurant.
Close your eyes and imagine this…well, close your eyes when you’re done reading. As we leave the second HdR seminar for the day, all worn out from learning more about Rhone wines, we head over to the lunch area and what’s the first thing we see? A sea of ruby, pink, and blush infused shiny objects…bottles and bottles of addicting Roses, WOW!
We believe there were roughly 14 different Roses from Tavel, and we probably tried five or six of them…each one unique, each one telling its own story.
All this rosie Rose paired well with a fantastic menu including: manchego cheese and sweet yellow melon platter, mixed green salad with a sun dried tomoato and goat cheese vinaigrette, grilled seasonal vegetable platter with eggplant-zucchini-fennel-tomato-mushroom-mini peppers, tortilla espanola with assorted olives, grilled albacore with olive oil emulsion-capers-lemon and oregano, chicken with French white beans-roasted garlic and pancetta, and topped off with a homemade ice cream sandwich- triple chocolate brownie with homemade vanilla ice cream-raspberry coulis-crème anglaise and caramel crème anglaise.
Okay…hoot’s gonna say it, DAMN, talk about food and wine colliding! We use the word trifecta a lot, because it’s under-used…but this was a trifecta shared by Tavel Roses, Chef Jose Dahan, and the amazing people of Hospice du Rhone!! Job WELL done folks!!
Have an amazing Friday people and share an amazing adult beverage with the one you love and great friends, enjoy the moments…as we did at this fabulous lunch!! Cheers!!
