This isn’t related to wine but I found it interesting. If you haven’t heard the recent news about the 9/11 Memorial, the short story is that a lot of people are upset with the gift shop that is in the memorial. I have a few thoughts.
- Yes, I do find it to be in poor taste and they should get rid of the gift shop.
- On the other hand, won’t sales of merchandise help to pay for the upkeep of the memorial?
- I cannot imagine what it is like to have lost someone in the 9/11 tragedy. If I had would my opinion today be different?
At the end of the day we need to remember that many lives were lost that day and to so many people that is hallowed ground. That land is a place where many will go to mourn their losses for decades to come.
So what do you think:
a) completely remove the gift shop
b) leave it as is or
c) change some of the merchandise sold so it seems less commercial?
