This past Saturday evening was the annual Vine Street Victorian Christmas Showcase, which I prefer calling Vine Street Christmas. It’s another one of those holiday events that really shows the quaintness of Paso. They block off Vine Street from 8th St. to 21st St. between the hours of 6pm and 9pm for people to meander through the street and enjoy the festivities.
Those festivities include live music, caroling, entertainers, a very short but cool parade, hot chocolate, the infamous Ebenezer Scrooge, and of course all of the Christmas lights on the houses and businesses. We went down with our friends Anne and Javier who were visiting from the Bay Area and I must say, four adults with our 2 year old son were good odds in the dark with crowds of people.
We had a great time and our boy, Sammy, did fantastic. It’s very family friendly and he walked much of it on his own. We took him down the previous two years and this year was by far the most fun with him. The only thing he didn’t really understand was why he couldn’t go up into people’s yards and grab the blow up Christmas decorations. Good times explaining that.
All that said, it really is a fun time of year in Paso Robles. These events make it feel like a small town, country Christmas and that is yet another special thing about this area. Check out some of my photos below in the slideshow and let me know, do you have something like this in your town?

We saw that a couple of years ago! It’s such a nice event! It remindes me of Main Street at Disneyland with so many people!
I hope to see it again sometime.
