Annie here…As much as I love drinking wine, I also really enjoy me some good coffee now and then…or every morning, more like it! There’s a new coffee joint in town and it took me a while to get down there, but I finally did and was most definitely NOT disappointed. This place was super cool…and by cool I mean, the kind of place you want to go and stay a while, hang out, enjoy yourself and your coffee and just bask in the goodness of the much lauded vice we all know and love: caffeine.
Yes, it took us a while to get to Spearhead, and in the meantime we’ve been listening and watching what people are saying about it. It’s been pretty much all good! Well, there was that comment about how this place is hipster..but what does that really mean, and is that bad?!?! If cool decor, great coffee, nice people, and a generally pleasant place to hang out is hipster then slap a pair of skinny jeans on me and call me a hipster.
If you’re wondering what’s so cool about this spot, not sure I can really put my finger on it, but it goes something like this: you can’t beat a place that provides a good product, makes you feel comfortable, and then even further, makes you want to come back. It’s just that simple, isn’t it? Sit outside on the patio, or inside and watch the magic happen over at the espresso machine.
Go check this place out and let me know what you think. Oh yeah, and try the “Miel”. It’s like a hug in a cup…espresso, honey, cinnamon, and milk.

Agreed Annie! Awesome place- keeping in simple with the main focus on quality. I have tried the warm Miel… now you made me wanna get the iced Miel!

Dani…great minds! π Yes, I love the clean, simple vibe there and plan to get back soon to hang out more. Haha, and now I guess I’ll need to try the warm Miel!

We’ve been there as well and I got my standard “nonfat latte with an extra shot” and I can usually tell the quality of the place as there are no extra flavorings or influences…just good coffee flavor…and I really enjoyed it! I don’t remember the exact locale these beans were from but they do rotate the types and roast them there to ensure freshness. I spoke with one of the owners, Matt while I was waiting and I like their plan. They have room to expand as needed and are trying to do everything sustainable (isn’t that part of the “Hipster” label???) and be a positive part of the community. My daughter also went there and she has worked at a Starbucks for 6 years and she enjoyed it as well!

That’s great to hear your feedback, Steve! I’m no coffee connoisseur, but can definitely appreciate a good cup. That’s cool to hear that they’ve set themselves up to expand when the time is right. It’ll be interesting to keep an eye on them!

Getting a a large (sort of,16 oz) coffee for $3.50, knocked me for a loop. But then I tasted it and it was really excellent. Very, very good and with really cool people who take pride in their product.

Definitely an awesome product, and it’s great to see people that are passionate about their work, Jay. Glad to hear you dug that cup!

A Hug in a cup, well I have to go try that.
I like you, Annie, enjoy a good cup of coffee. I drink mine black. I want to taste all of the nuances the coffee has to offer, without masking it with milk, sugar or anything else for at matter!
Will go check them out.

I thought of you when I wrote that, Raquel! The coffee, like you and Augie, made me smile! Cheers…and maybe if the stars align we can meet down there! π

I am all about small business and community and Spearhead Coffee is a breath of fresh air nestled in downtown Paso. I lean on their Chai Tea Latte almost every time I go in and theirs is, by far, my favorite! Recently I sampled their cappucino – yum – and now, will need to go find that Hug in a Cup <3 Great atmosphere, chill and enjoyable. Love this place.

Irina – thank you so much for your comment…I completely agree about the small business and community here in Paso and we need to nurture that! Now I’ll have to go in and try that Chai Latte!!! π
